Los Angeles, California:<\/strong> Collectors get ready!  Cherie Currie, Cleopatra\u2019s own Queen of Noise, is poised for the release of a unique new album, the strictly limited, white label vinyl The Cleopatra Sessions.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delving deep into the original Cherry Bomb\u2019s 30-year relationship with Cleopatra Records, this stunning purple marble LP features nine tracks, pairing Cherie\u2019s inimitable vocals and energy with an all-star cast of superstars – Wayne Kramer<\/strong> (MC5<\/strong>), Marky Ramone<\/strong> (The Ramones<\/strong>), Rick Derringer<\/strong>, James Williamson<\/strong> (The Stooge<\/strong>s), Tracii Guns<\/strong> (L.A. Guns<\/strong>), Mick Box<\/strong> (Uriah Heep<\/strong>) and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of these tracks are making their first ever appearance on physical media, and not only feature some of Cherie\u2019s favorite songs, but also some of her favorite performers – among them a Made-In-Heaven partnership with the late Cheetah Chrome<\/strong> (Dead Boys<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cherie recalls,\u201c\u2018I Can See You\u2019 was a tough song due to the tempo, but my saving grace was working with my cherished friend Cheetah. I even drove to Las Vegas to be with him when he did his solo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCheetah and I became close friends because of Cleopatra Records, who paired us together often. I am so glad he asked me to sing on his solo album out next year on Cleopatra, which I worked on for three days free of charge just to be on my friend\u2019s album. Cheetah made my day, everyday and he will be sorely missed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was overjoyed, too, to revisit her own past with a sensational new take on The Runaways<\/strong>\u2019 maiden single, \u201cCherry Bomb.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is my favorite redo,\u201d she says.  \u201cWorking with the late, great, Bob Kulick<\/strong> made it so full of spunk and sass, but the extension of the song was such a great idea, I now use it live!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A glorious version of The Shangri-Las<\/strong>\u2019 deathless death song, \u201cLeader Of The Pack\u201d reminds her of the sheer dedication of her supporting cast. \u201cThe vocals for \u2018Leader of the Pack\u2019 were produced and engineered by Jake Hays<\/strong>, and he deserves credit for it. He had to shlep all the recording gear to my home, set it up and man the controls ,since this was during Covid and before I had my own recording equipment to do this myself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has fond memories, also, of Debbie Harry<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cFor Your Eyes Only,\u201d recorded back in 2000, \u201cduring my early days with Cleopatra. I was thrilled to work with long time friends Lanny Lardola<\/strong>, Chuck Wright<\/strong> and Bruce Gowdy<\/strong>. It was a great time with a phenomenal arrangement, and it\u2019s one of my favorite songs I\u2019ve done for Cleopatra.\u201d Equally excitingly, \u201cDebbie Harry mentioned to me how she loved it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And bringing things bang up to date, \u201c\u2018When You\u2019re Young\u2019 was a total surprise! I had recorded the entire song with backing harmonies, like I always do as a solo artist for Cleopatra, but when the final mix was sent to me they had turned it into a duet with their new signed artist, ESSEX<\/strong>. It was really fun to work with him on the music video. He is such a kind and talented showman who brought excitement to the song.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
