Tour organizers for the acclaimed 80\u2019s New Wave tour TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL<\/strong>\u2014launching July 17 <\/strong>in Phoenix\u2014have announced a line-up change due to the unfortunate cancellation of The Motels<\/strong> (see the band\u2019s statement below). Bow Wow Wow<\/strong> will replace The Motels<\/strong> starting in Phoenix on July 17 through the July 26 show in Salt Lake City. Men Without Hats<\/strong> will replace The Motels<\/strong> from the August 7 show in Washington D.C. show through the August 16 show in Aurora, IL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is the statement from The Motels<\/strong> about their TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL<\/strong> cancellation: \u201cThe Motels regret that they must cancel their appearances on the Totally Tubular Festival this summer. Singer\/founder Martha Davis needs time to heal from a recent medical procedure. Martha is expected to make a full recovery but must take the summer off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martha Davis <\/strong>adds: \u201cIt breaks my heart to have to cancel The Motels part in the \u2018Totally Tubular Tour\u2019 this summer. The band and I were looking forward to it big time! But the doctors have some unfinished business with me, so I must comply. But don’t worry, \u2018I’ll be back!” I love you all, It will be a great show, so go, have fun, and I’ll meet up with you later…love…m.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festival creator Jon Pleeter<\/strong> says: “I look forward to welcoming The Motels back on Totally Tubular Festival dates soon, as the magic of Martha Davis cannot be contained! We will all miss Martha this summer, but look forward to seeing her back on stage soon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour\u2019s colorful lineup also features Thomas Dolby & The Lost Toy People, A Flock Of Seagulls, The Producers, Animotion<\/strong>, The Escape Club<\/strong>, and Tommy Tutone<\/strong>. These artists exploded in the pop culture zeitgeist in the 1980\u2019s thanks mainly to the high rotation of their music videos on MTV. These artists have enjoyed a steady rise in popularity in recent years, with their music having a lasting impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL<\/strong> will mark the first time Thomas Dolby & The Lost Toy People<\/strong> have performed together since 1988; their last show was at the Rose Bowl supporting Depeche Mode. This will also be the first time in over 25 years that The Producers<\/strong> (original lineup) will tour the US nationally coast to coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bow Wow Wow<\/strong> will replace The Motels<\/strong> on the following dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/24 – HOLLYWOOD – PALLADIUM<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/25 – LAS VEGAS – THE SAHARA LAS VEGAS @ THE POOL<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/26 – SALT LAKE CITY – RED BUTTE GARDEN AMPHITHEATRE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
