Cherry<\/strong> Bomb<\/strong>, the Los Angeles-based solo project of MisterWives’<\/strong> Mandy<\/strong> Lee, <\/strong>returns today with a brand new single, “Sorry You’re Not Sorry”<\/a>.<\/strong> Continuing her exploration into the glamour of disco pop, the artist turns up the dials on violin pomps and synth melodies to the max to soundtrack her new song about self-love, confidence, and shaking off grief and frustration. It alchemizes heartbreak into heartbeats, pumping all the pain away one dance at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“‘<\/em><\/strong>Sorry You\u2019re Not Sorry’ is for the pivotal moment when you stop begging closed doors to open and make peace with the grief that comes with choosing closure over receiving it,”<\/em><\/strong> says Lee about the new track. “It\u2019s no surprise pain and pleasure are processed in the same part of the brain and perhaps that\u2019s why I often blur the line between the two in music.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sorry You’re Not Sorry” comes with a colorful\u00a0new music video<\/a>\u00a0of biblical proportions. Featuring the\u00a0Haus Of Cherry\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 a troupe of dancers, drag queens, showgirls, and divas \u2014 it visually hammers the final nail in Mandy Lee’s coffin for all the guilt she no longer needs to feel. It mirrors the neon, bedazzled world of Cherry Bomb with feather boas, the highest high heels, and the extravagant spirit of ballrooms, channeling the flamboyance of cult classic films like\u00a0The Rocky Horror Picture Show\u00a0<\/em>and Baz Luhrmann’s\u00a0Romeo + Juliet<\/em>.\u00a0“The Haus Of Cherry dismantles a world I didn\u2019t feel love and acceptance in,”<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0adds Lee,\u00a0“and it puts it back together anew with the help of a congregation of divas, a dazzling drag priest, and convent of showgirl nuns.”\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Shame has no home in Cherry Bomb’s church \u2014 only love and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sorry You’re Not Sorry” is a manifesto for Cherry Bomb’s forthcoming music, which aims to transform tears into sweat through energetic synth pop melodies sharpened by anthemic, powerful rock lyrics and vocals. Listeners got a taste of Mandy Lee’s rebellious side with\u00a0“Digital Girl,”\u00a0<\/strong>a dizzying Y2K-inspired synth pop single offering fiery resistance to the pressures of modernity.\u00a0FLOOD Magazine<\/a>, who debuted the official music video on April 2, says it’s “just as vibrant as the song itself. Immersing the viewer in the colorful world the song establishes with its explosive chorus and underlying \u201900s club beat, the video also emphasizes the lyrical themes explored on the single.” They added, \u201c[First single] Never Be Me\u201d\u00a0had more in common with the modern pop canon as established by Chappell Roan, while its follow-up single \u201cDigital Girl\u201d dipped its toes in the digital-age operatics of Caroline Polachek\u2019s catalog.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
