This 10-track offering&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;his most ambitious work to date&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;features such fan favorites as&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/L8Wwqcc5KCw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8216;Sweet Charlene&#8217;<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong>and more recent compositions, expanding on the melodic craftsmanship and emotional honesty that have become hallmarks of Couch&#8217;s songwriting,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An inviting gateway to the new album, &#8216;Overwhelmed&#8217; is fuelled by jangling guitars, a propulsive rhythm section, and an undeniable melodic hook, pairing upbeat energy with lyrics that explore the frustrations of a relationship coming apart in real time. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Where The Sidewalk Ends&#8217; features cover artwork by world-recognized New York artist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.annemuntges.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Anne Muntges<\/strong><\/a>, known for her&nbsp;highly detailed drawings, prints, and installations. Exhibiting nationally and internationally, he work was also featured&nbsp;in the&nbsp;music-history volume&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;<\/strong><strong>Women Who Rock: Bessie to Beyonc\u00e9, Girl Groups to Riot Grrrl&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Overwhelmed&#8217; was recorded at&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlinerecording.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Landline Recording<\/a><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>in Hoboken, New Jersey and engineered, mixed and produced by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.landlinerecording.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Jon Chinn<\/strong><\/a><strong>(Wild Child, Lomelda, David Ramirez, Gina Chavez, Calliope Musicals)<\/strong>, one of four accomplished producers involved in this album, each of whom bring their own perspective to the sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The album was mastered at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrpinkrecords.com\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Mr. Pink Records<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;in Bastrop, TX by&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jonaswilsonmusic.com\/about.html#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jonas Wilson<\/a><\/strong>, known for his work with&nbsp;<strong>The Black Angels, Heartless Bastards, Sumbuck&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>Urban Heat<\/strong>. Along with Chinn, Wilson is one of the producers involved in this album, the other two being&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/peterdarkmav\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Peter Mavrogeorgis&nbsp;<\/strong><\/a><strong>(<\/strong><strong>The National, Boy Harsher, Grinderman, Sharon Van Etten,&nbsp;Bootblacks<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/foodandfutbol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Dan Haag<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;(<strong>The Astrojet<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>The Black Swans,<\/strong>&nbsp;both fronted by&nbsp;<strong>Fountains of Wayne&#8217;s Jody Porter<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"nv-iframe-embed\"><iframe title=\"Jonny Couch - Sweet Charlene (Official Music Video)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L8Wwqcc5KCw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;&#8216;I&#8217;m obsessed with the song &#8216;Good Thing&#8217; by Fine Young Cannibals. I wanted to write something danceable and jangly and fun like that. This song admittedly sounds a lot different and is much faster, however I&#8217;m hoping that the fun spirit remains with the bounciness of the drums and bass and the jangly guitar parts,&#8221; says&nbsp;<strong>Jonny Couch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This is a tune about relationship troubles, and having cigarette smoke blown in your face, which really isn&#8217;t ideal when you&#8217;re trying to have a meaningful conversation. Then again, maybe it&#8217;s all your fault.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now a fixture on the New York and New Jersey music scene, Couch was a NYC rock drummer before embarking on his journey as a solo artist in 2016. His 2019 debut album&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jonnycouch.bandcamp.com\/album\/mystery-man\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>&#8216;Mystery Man&#8217;<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>further established his reputation as a gifted songwriter, earning recognition in&nbsp;<strong><em>Bandcamp Daily<\/em><\/strong>&#8216;s &#8220;Unsung Power Pop Gems From All Eras&#8221; feature and thensome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building a devoted following through energetic performances and sharp songwriting, Jonny Couch has performed alongside artists including The Fleshtones, Josie Cotton, The Nude Party, Paul Collins Beat, and The Plimsouls, along with appearances at the Savannah Stopover Music Festival, Hoboken Arts &amp; Music Festival, Jersey City&#8217;s Lo-Fi Fest, and WFMU 91.1 FM. He can regularly be spotted on stage at haunts like Pet Shop, Berlin and TV Eye, wearing his signature black cap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between infectious rockers and ballads, Couch&#8217;s music draws its origins directly from the power pop and new wave greats of the late &#8217;70s and early &#8217;80s.
