LOS ANGELES, CA. (WEDNESDAY MAY 27, 2026)<\/strong> \u2013 <\/strong>David J<\/a> (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets) confirmed today he\u2019s heading on the road for a June tour in support of his recently released Tracks From the Attic Revisited<\/em> which is available on vinyl (in traditional black or gold), Special Edition CD, and all digital formats available now. Fans can order the album here<\/a> via Independent Project Records (IPR)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The June tour begins in Los Angeles at Zebulon on June 8 for a record release party for Tracks\u2026<\/em> and concludes at the end of the month at Dex Fest in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on June 27. Additional tour dates to be confirmed shortly. Confirmed tour Dates include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tracks From the Attic Revisited<\/em> is culled from the 37-track home recordings first heard on Tracks From the Attic<\/a>, a triple album released by IPR in 2024; some of the songs have been reshaped, sometimes rewritten and are now reinterpreted and recorded with a full band. The ten tracks that make up these new, fully fleshed-out versions are an arresting distillation of David J\u2019s eclectic taste: from late \u201870s New Wave to a lifelong love of country and Nick Drake-like romanticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When David J first went digging through boxes of old tapes (whose treasures were eventually collected in the acclaimed Tracks From the Attic<\/em> compilation), he didn\u2019t yet know that he was about to embark on a long, fruitful conversation with his own past, present, and even future self. As he uncovered demos recorded over some four decades, he noticed that some songs were asking him to get reacquainted with them. He eventually complied, approaching material that sometimes he had no recollection of having written as when producing another artist\u2019s music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The old home recordings became new demos for Revisited:<\/em> ideas reworked and sometimes radically transformed, lyrics adjusted when they showed a potential to narrate life in the not-so-roaring 2020s. Thus reshaped, the songs were shared with a stellar combo that convened in the studio to breathe new life into them. Some are virtually unrecognizable, while some have kept their original form and charm intact \u2013 just developed and grown through the experience that comes with years of music making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where the original Tracks From the Attic<\/em> invited listeners to be present in the room as a young singer-songwriter found his own way (wandering in the fields of experimentation and collecting the meanderings that followed), the new album puts us in front of an artist who has honed his craft and mastered the art of pruning. \u201cThe demos were like neglected little seeds that had been set aside, or fallen on fallow land,\u201d David J reflects. \u201cThey\u2019ve been gathered up, nurtured, tended and brought back to life as little buds. Now this is the bloom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recorded at Ear Gallery Music in Los Angeles and produced by David J, Tracks From the Attic Revisited <\/em>features a line-up of musicians that includes David J (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jason Roberts (Spoon, Daniel Johnston, guitar), Jon Bernstein (piano, organ), Tony Green (bass), David Raven (Steve Earle, Keith Richards, Lucinda Williams, etc., drums), Dan Clucas (trumpet), Robert \u201cSmokey\u201d Miles (Bob Dylan, accordion), John Courage (lap steel) and Stephen Perkins (Jane\u2019s Addiction, congas). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Known for their unique musical sensibilities and extraordinary artwork & design, Independent Project Records is a favorite of record collectors and music fans alike for their bespoke packaging and attention to detail. Grammy-nominated founder Bruce Licher\u2019s graphic design and his hand-letterpress packaging have been a mainstay in music circles since 1982\u2019s Tragic Figures<\/em> from Savage Republic. Founded in 1980 by musician and artist Bruce Licher, Independent Project Records<\/a> and its sister entity Independent Project Press<\/a> are known for their instantly recognizable hand-printed record covers for bands including Camper Van Beethoven, For Against, Polvo, R.E.M., Savage Republic, Silversun Pickups, Stereolab and more.
