Erik Fincher, Static-X guitar and bass technician from the 2001 Machine tour through the 2009
Cult of Static tour and close confidant to the late Wayne Static, has issued a strong
endorsement of filmmaker Matt Zane\u2019s unauthorized documentary on Wayne Static and Tera
Wray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fincher states that claims by Edsel Dope (Xer0 in the current Static-X lineup) of being \u201cgood
friends\u201d with Wayne are false and he shouldn’t be in control of telling Wayne and Tera’s life story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cWayne did not have anything close to a friendship with Edsel Dope,\u201d Fincher says, citing years of firsthand knowledge and historical tensions between the camps, including Edsel\u2019s public disputes with former Static-X guitarist Tripp Eisen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fincher, who handled Wayne\u2019s gear and in-ear monitors for over a decade and developed a
trusted relationship with the frontman, supports Zane\u2019s film. He notes Zane\u2019s documented work
directing Wayne\u2019s post-Static-X projects including Pighammer. Zane has stated that Wayne and
Tera asked him to document their lives after 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe fans deserve every bit of footage and note of music that Wayne left behind. It\u2019s what he
wanted,\u201d Fincher said. \u201cAnyone who tries to stop you from seeing it is the real issue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fincher affirms respect for the original members\u2019 right to perform Static-X music but rejects any
rewriting of Wayne\u2019s era or legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
