The US disco-punk band Electric Six<\/strong> are releasing a remastered and expanded 2xLP format of their fourth album, 2007\u2019s \u2018I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Being The Master\u2019. It coincides with US dates that began in late April and end on 23rd May, followed by a UK tour that commences with an appearance at Download Festival on 11th June and runs until 28th June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon the album’s original release, band frontman Dick Valentine stated that \u201cevery song in one way or another is the result of excessive access to excess: from the jazzy cabaret-ish album opener \u2018It’s Showtime!\u2019, to the radio-ready Coldplayish \u2018When I Get To The Green Building\u2019, to the triumphant new wave\/stoner rock big bang in the magnificent \u2018Dirty Looks\u2019, Electric Six feels that they’ve done a good job at weaving fun, good times and high-octane pleasure into the fabric of this crazy world, damned by its excess.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metropolis Records and Electric Six are now excessively excited to present \u2018I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Being The Master\u2019 on an excessively sexy double LP on translucent ruby red vinyl. And, since it’s already excessive, and the band had access to its archives, Electric Six added an excessive amount of bonus material for what is the album’s first ever release on vinyl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among five bonus tracks is the group’s current single, a cover version of the 1968 Harry Nilsson classic ‘One’ (also recorded by Three Dog Night, John Farnham, Filter and Aimee Mann). \u201cMany years ago, we ran this song through our processor, our updater, our music machine. We then sprinkled it with some sevendust, and voila!!! You are about to hear a crunchier, angstier version of this sad but catchy pop music classic,” Valentine continues. “We recorded it at the behest of a video game conglomerate for use in an advertising campaign. This is the convergence in the Electric Six Venn diagram circles of video games, shameless lust for money, and video games. One is the loneliest number indeed\u2026.but SIX\u2026is the most electric!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formed in Detroit in 1996 and still helmed by charismatic frontman Dick Valentine, Electric Six are renowned for combining elements of garage rock, new wave, punk, disco and metal alongside large dollops of comedy into their music. The group first achieved widespread recognition in 2003 with the smash hit singles \u2018Danger! High Voltage\u2019 and \u2018Gay Bar\u2019 and have released new studio albums on a regular basis. They perform extensive UK tours every year and have built a substantial following.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
