California-based electronic musician and sound designer CYRNAI<\/strong> (aka Carolyn Fok) has issued the first in a series of remixes of her 2025 track \u2018Echo Language\u2019 as a single today. Where the original version was a combination of pulsating sequencer rhythms and sound effects underpinned with a relentless heavy beat, the brand new \u2018Echo Language Remix One\u2019 sees it remodelled into an industrial techno-funk workout while retaining the hypnotic quality of the original.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The darkly intense \u2018Echo Language\u2019 had been just one of several electronic styles utilised on \u2018Calamity Of Beauty\u2019 STREAM<\/a><\/strong> | BANDCAMP<\/a>, a long-awaited CYRNAI album issued in April 2025. It was followed four months later by \u2018Chrysalis\u2019 STREAM<\/a> | BANDCAMP<\/a>, a strikingly different album released as Carolyn Fok that drew on a lifelong fascination with cosmology. It blended analog atmospheric textures with emotional depth on what was a cinematically powerful sonic meditation. Both titles won \u2018Best of 2025′ awards from Clouzine Magazine and LIT Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having made music since her early teens, a well received retrospective 6xLP deluxe box set of her work entitled \u2018CYRNAI 1980-90\u2019 was issued on the darkwave label Dark Entries in 2018. That year also saw her appear on Cherry Red\u2019s \u2018Third Noise Principle\u2019 box set of \u201880s US underground\/electronic music in their \u2018Close To The Noise Floor presents…\u2019 series, as well as embark on a project to release her full back catalogue via her Memoir Of Sound site HERE<\/a>. She will be releasing further archival singles from it in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2020s have seen Fok make live appearances as CYRNAI alongside the likes of Morton Subotnick, Suzanne Ciani and Drew McDowall, while she has also spoken on MUTEK festival panels in San Francisco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
