Feb. 27, 2026 – RICHMOND, Va. \u2013 As Into Oblivion<\/em> explores a world in flux, Lamb of God turn inward with \u201cBlunt Force Blues\u201d (https:\/\/lamb-of-god.lnk.to\/BluntForceBlues<\/a>), reaching back to their Richmond origins and the local music community that shaped them. The track serves as the final preview of the band\u2019s forthcoming album, which arrives on March 13 via Epic Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Randy Blythe reflects on Lamb of God\u2019s formative years on the new single: \u201cWe learned how to play by watching and hanging out with other local dudes. That\u2019s what we aspired to do \u2013 keep up with good local bands. They were just as much of an influence on us as any of the bigger bands from different cities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Mark Morton, the song speaks to the perspective they\u2019ve gained over the course of the band\u2019s 25+ year career: \u201cFor me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation. It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, \u2018Let’s just make music that we think is cool,\u2019 which is really where it all started.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, the band announced a nationwide series of listening parties, with more than 140 independent record stores celebrating Into Oblivion<\/em>\u2019s release weekend (March 13 \u2013 15). Exclusive merch, including free Lamb of God swag (while supplies last), prizes, and an indie-exclusive, limited edition Poltergeist vinyl variant of the new album will be available. In the months leading up to today\u2019s announcement, the metal veterans released a trio of blistering singles that offered listeners a taste of the album\u2019s range. \u201cSepsis<\/a>,\u201d the band\u2019s first new song since 2022, also paid homage to the early \u201890s Richmond underground, with Consequence<\/em> noting the song\u2019s fresh approach, saying \u201cMorton\u2019s riffs are bruising at this slower pace,\u201d and adding that Blythe bellows \u201clike a heavy metal Nick Cave.\u201d \u201cParasocial Christ<\/a>\u201d followed, evoking classic Lamb of God with a three-minute onslaught that Revolver<\/em> dubbed an \u201canti-tech thrasher.\u201d Most recently, it was the title track, \u201cInto Oblivion<\/a>,\u201d which Metal Hammer<\/em> deemed \u201cferocious,\u201d while Brooklyn Vegan<\/em> called it \u201cas much of a gut-punch as you\u2019d hope for from LOG.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Produced and mixed by longtime studio collaborator Josh Wilbur, Into Oblivion <\/em>was recorded across multiple locations tied closely to the band\u2019s identity. Drums were tracked in Richmond, Va., with guitars and bass recorded at Morton\u2019s home studio. Blythe recorded his vocals at the legendary Total Access studio in Redondo Beach, Calif., the birthplace of seminal punk records by Black Flag, H\u00fcsker D\u00fc, and Descendents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
