The US electro-industrial act Flesh Field <\/strong>have released a new single, \u2018Supplication’, today on Metropolis Records. \u201cThis song explores the ache of longing for what is absent and will never return,\u201d<\/em> explains group founder Ian Ross. \u201cThat longing itself eventually becomes the only reason to continue on despite the knowledge that it will never be fulfilled.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Supplication’ is included on a brand new Flesh Field album entitled ‘On Enmity’ that will be out on 20th February. Containing the most personal material that Ross has ever written, it documents the aftermath of trauma; the dissection of damage and the endurance that follows when survival becomes an involuntary act of defiance in and of itself. It’s not about recovery. It’s about adaptation to ruin.

\u2018On Enmity\u2019 follows remastered 2025 reissues of the band\u2019s first two albums, ‘Viral Extinction’ (1999) and ‘Belief Control’ (2001), which themselves came after Ross had resurrected the group in 2023 to release a new album entitled ‘Voice of the Echo Chamber’ and companion piece ‘Voice of Reason’ EP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flesh Field is a US electro-industrial act formed in 1996 by Ian Ross in Columbus, Ohio. Their debut album, \u2018Viral Extinction\u2019, was released three years later, with several of its songs subsequently remixed by contemporaneous acts and issued together with new material on the \u2018Redemption’ EP in 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the band\u2019s compositional skills with bombastic symphonic elements and intricate programming, 2001\u2019s \u2018Belief Control\u2019 solidified Flesh Field\u2019s status. It also led to the group signing to Metropolis Records for the US release of their third album, \u2018Strain\u2019. Adding new layers of acoustic and electronic percussion, guitar and choral effects, the result was a widely acclaimed epic and anthemic sounding record.

Then, silence. For almost two decades, Flesh Field lay dormant, even as their songs were placed in films including ‘The Mill’, TV shows such as ‘True Blood’ and video games like ‘Project Gotham Racing’. \u2018Voice of the Echo Chamber\u2019 suddenly appeared in 2023, a concept work with each of its ten tracks representing stages of political radicalization and violence. It was followed by the companion piece \u2018Voice of Reason\u2019 EP in 2024 and reissues of \u2018Viral Extinction\u2019 and \u2018Belief Control\u2019 in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
