Jan. 7, 2026 \u2013 Kicking off the new year, Puscifer release \u201cImpetuoUs<\/a>,\u201d a third and final preview of the band\u2019s highly-anticipated album, Normal Isn\u2019t<\/em>, arriving Feb. 6 via Puscifer Entertainment\/Alchemy Recordings\/BMG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to hearing where this song takes people,\u201d Maynard James Keenan says. \u201cAs the writers, we forget that in a way, we are carpenters and that we\u2019ve been with this song since it was a pile of lumber. Our Perspective may differ from the final occupant of this space we\u2019ve constructed. Shelter, Bridge or Gallows, Coffin? Curious to find out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accompanying visualizer offers a first look at the Puscifer comic book series, \u201cTales From The Pusciverse.\u201d The debut issue spotlights the character Bellendia Black, originally introduced in the \u201cPendulum\u201d video. Additional details about the series, launching in tandem with Normal Isn\u2019t<\/em>, will be announced soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puscifer has previously released two tracks from the 11-song album: \u201cSelf Evident<\/a>,\u201d a song that Stereogum<\/em> called \u201cgnarly\u201d while noting Keenan and Carina Round \u201coperatically growl\u201d on the four-minute outing, and \u201cPendulum<\/a>,\u201d <\/em>a nod to the post-punk underground of the 1980s that Consequence<\/em> said sounds like the \u201clovechild of Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Written and recorded across Arizona, Los Angeles, and on the road during last year\u2019s Sessanta tour, the album <\/em>blends the dark electronics and sharp humor Puscifer is known for with a more spontaneous creative process. \u201cFrom the outset, we had discussed an element of rawness and edge, which guitar brings,\u201d shares Mat Mitchell, who co-produced the album. \u201cWe got rid of the guard rails and made the music more aggressive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNormal Isn\u2019t<\/em> reflects this time we are living in,\u201d Keenan adds. \u201cAs storytellers and artists, our job is to observe, interpret, and report. We take in our environment and share what we see, and what we see around us does not appear normal. Not by a long shot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Album guests include Greg Edwards (bass), Gunnar Olsen (drums), and Sarah Jones (drums) with guests Tony Levin (bass on \u201cNormal Isn\u2019t\u201d and \u201cSeven One\u201d), Danny Carey (drums on \u201cSeven One\u201d) and Mr. Ian Ross (father of Atticus Ross, who narrates \u201cSeven One\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
