Profit of Doom is the latest studio outing from Chicago shock-rockers Sinister Fate: an extended \u2018album-length-EP \u2019comprising four new original songs and a cover version of Filter’s “Hey Man, Nice Shot”, rounded out with four additional remixes. Launching the EP\u2019s release over the weekend, the \u2018beLIEve\u2019 video premiered with Devolution Magazine UK.<\/p>\n\n\n

Profit of Doom includes the singles \u2018Meet Mister Scratch\u2019 and the brand-new video-single \u2018beLIEve\u2019: a blatantly scornful send-up of the conservative Christian right in the USA. Frontman David Bates admits that the band is not normally known for socio-political commentary, but found it difficult to avoid in the current climate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis new album release is definitely a commentary on my country\u2019s current lay of the land, but it is dressed up through horror themes. I don\u2019t like being direct and forcing beliefs or ideas down people\u2019s throats. I\u2019d rather let people interpret and think than just give the answers. I usually use some form of quote on the back of our albums, that someone will read and get a feel or vibe for what they\u2019re about to hear. For this one I used: “When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dEmerging from the darkest realms of Chicago, Sinister Fate have been terrifying the US Midwest since 2006. David Bates (vocals), Leo Garcia (guitar), and The Omen (bass) combine their love for the macabre and freakshow aesthetics, with an intense shock rock\/ classic metal sound, to create Sinister Fate\u2019s ghastly exhibition. Their mission statement: to keep the dead awake, and the living in fear…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since shambling onto the music scene, Sinister Fate have toured all over the United States, playing such iconic venues as The Whiskey A Go-Go, House of Blues, The Metro, and Double Door, and headlining The Ride for Dime. The band have performed at Chicago\u2019s Open Air Fest, Days of the Dead Horror conventions, and as staples at Breaking Fate Entertainment\u2019s Indie and Horror Film Festivals. They have shared stages with a who\u2019s who of rock, metal, and industrial music, including Ministry, My Life With Thrill Kill Kult, Combichrist, Hanzel Und Gretyl, and Psyclon Nine, to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Including albums and EPs, Profit of Doom is the band\u2019s seventh studio release overall. Previously, Sinister Fate have released the studio albums Hellbound (2013) and Broken Minds, Damaged Hearts (2020), and the live mini-album, Live Ruin (2022), recorded at Hollywood\u2019s legendary Whiskey-a-Go Go. Their EP releases meanwhile include Grave New World (2008) and Blood Pact (2016), and the rarities collection, Remnants from the Crypt (2019). Sinister Fate\u2019s music also graces the soundtracks to Ron Fitzgerald’s Dark Realm, and the indie horror shorts, Bacon, and Balloon Feast.<\/p>\n\n\n
