Last year I spent the Thanksgiving weekend in Indianapolis and while I was away Melita expressed her desire to have a traditional American Thanksgiving so I promised her I would and I delivered. <\/p>\n\n\n

Preparation began very early in the morning and I kept the bird based in chicken stock and lots of butter and spices. I swore 2 years ago I was never going to host Thanksgiving again but I promised the Georgian. Its too much work for one person and the clean up is unsatisfying as it takes a lot of time when you do dished by hand. <\/p>\n\n\n

Guests arrived late as usual. Melita arrived first thankfully and Ellen and her husband John were on time so with the others running late it gave us all time to chat and share stories. <\/p>\n\n\n

Guests included John and Ellen, Eden and Gary (who sliced the bird) Mario and Vicky, Lisa Lightning and Byron Samuel <\/p>\n\n\n

Too Dark Mark commented: ” I\u2019m never eating turkey at your house” when he saw the above photo which was too funny.<\/p>\n\n\n

Ellen presented Melita with a treat from her own country and Melita was THRILLED. Khachapuri is a traditional Georgian cheese-filled bread that varies by region. The name combines the Georgian words for “curd cheese” (khacho) and “bread” (puri). Common variations include the round, cheese-filled Imeretian khachapuri and the popular boat-shaped Adjarian khachapuri, which is topped with a raw egg and butter after baking.<\/p>\n\n\n

This was actually the day before Thanksgiving and I treated myself to lunch at El Palmar. I feel like I deserved it. And it was sooooo good.<\/p>\n\n\n
