Her \u201cre-imagined\u201d version of Elvis\u2019s 1957 classic, \u201cBlue Christmas,\u201d goes deep indigo in ways the King could have never dreamt. The song&#8217;s video, Directed by Jessica Janos, the video features all sorts of luminaries from von Rabbit\u2019s circle of talented weirdos, (among them comedian Larry CopCar, bandmate Lee Joseph, author and curator Paul Koudounaris and others) who swirl about her cerulean fever dream about being crushingly solo for Christmas once again.&#8221; &#8212; Kevin Bronson \/ Buzzbands L.A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This dark and moody interpretation of &#8220;Blue Christmas&#8221; was entirely performed, recorded, and mixed by Jesika Von Rabbit at The Rabbit Ranch in Joshua Tree, CA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesika von Rabbit grew up with cold Wisconsin winters and an icy Christmas. As a midwesterner transplanted to the Southern California desert of Joshua Tree, von Rabbit was inspired to write &#8220;California Christmas&#8221; contrasting snowy winter scenes with a warm, California setting, as described in its lyrics depicting high temperatures, people in shorts and sunglasses, and a beach visit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;California Christmas&#8221; was written and recorded when von Rabbit was fronting her former band Gram Rabbit, a trailblazing psychedelic rock and electro pop group who was recognized for their eclectic sound and live performances which helped put Joshua Tree on the musical map.
