Shaped by the duo\u2019s cinematic, atmospheric and celestial sound, \u2018Cascades\u2019 explores transformation, reflection and the pull of distant horizons. “It was born from a fascination with how the past lingers inside us and explores the spaces where timelines blur into one,\u201d <\/em>they explain. “I have a book about the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893 that inspired a lot of the record,\u201d <\/em>adds Chris Valentine. \u201cIt includes pictures of a great Columbian fountain, and that’s where the idea for \u2018Cascades\u2019 came from. The album is very water-centric in both its sound and the lyrics.\u201d

Imbued with the spirit of centuries-old poetry, gothic romance and myth, \u2018Cascades’ pulses with post-punk and dream-pop sounds shot through with lingering shadows of the old world, bridging the sound of their 2012 debut album ‘Aloha Moon’ with more recent releases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
