In a stunning and exclusive interview with Loaded Radio, Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey has confirmed the news that fans have been dreaming of for over a decade: a new, official Type O Negative live album is in the works. This will mark the legendary gothic metal band’s first official album release since the tragic passing of frontman Peter Steele in 2010. During our conversation, Kenny Hickey revealed to Loaded Radio’s Scott Penfold that the band is currently in the “mixing process” for the live record and that they are “working on the artwork now.” While fans have long clamored for a release of the infamous L’Amour show recording, Kenny hints that this project is something meticulously curated from their historic performances.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenny Hickey<\/strong>\u00a0has confirmed to\u00a0Scott Penfold<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Loaded Radio<\/a>\u00a0that a full-length concert recording from the long-defunct band is in the works for an official release. “We’re actually working on a live album right now,” he said. “Yeah, we’re in the mixing process\u2026 So I’m excited about that. [We’re] working on the artwork now.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong> effectively broke up after the passing of frontman Peter Steele<\/strong> in April 2010 from heart failure at the age of 48. Born Petrus T. Ratajczyk<\/strong> on January 4, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York, he stood 6′ 7″ (201 cm) tall, and had a low, bass-heavy voice, which was one of the most recognizable features in TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong>‘s music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before forming TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong>, Steele<\/strong> played for the metal group FALLOUT<\/strong> and the thrash band CARNIVORE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hickey<\/strong> told Loaded Radio<\/strong> that there has been talk about teaming up with the other surviving members of TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong> to stage a Steele<\/strong> tribute concert with various guest musicians. However, according to Hickey<\/strong>, former TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong> keyboardist Josh Silver<\/strong>, who is married to Kenny<\/strong>‘s wife’s sister, is still unwilling to commit to a Peter Steele<\/strong> tribute project, having spent “a long time” working for New York City as a paramedic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong>, known for its brooding soundscapes and cult status in the 1990s and early 2000s, has recently seen a cultural resurgence as new generations discover the band’s genre-defining music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong> was a New York\u2013based goth metal band formed in 1990 by vocalist, bassist and songwriter Steele<\/strong>, alongside Hickey<\/strong>, Silver<\/strong> and drummer Sal Abruscato<\/strong> \u2014 later replaced by longtime drummer Johnny Kelly<\/strong>. Their 1991 debut, “Slow, Deep And Hard”<\/strong>, introduced their brooding style, followed by the provocative “The Origin Of The Feces”<\/strong> (1992). TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong> achieved breakthrough success with “Bloody Kisses”<\/strong> (1993),which earned a cult following and featured the single “Black No. 1”<\/strong>. The band continued to evolve with albums such as “October Rust”<\/strong> (1996),“World Coming Down”<\/strong> (1999),“Life Is Killing Me”<\/strong> (2003) and “Dead Again”<\/strong> (2007).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revered for their distinctive blend of goth and metal, as well as Steele<\/strong>‘s deep, iconic vocals, TYPE O NEGATIVE<\/strong> left a lasting legacy in heavy music. The band concluded in 2010 following Steele<\/strong>‘s death, but their influence endures across the alternative and metal landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
