Its Monday morning and I’m still exhausted from last week. I don’t understand why training is so mentally draining but this is the second weekend in a row that I have had to drag my ass out of bed to run errands. I didn’t feel like doing the podcast yesterday but am happy that I did. It was a dammed good show. <\/p>\n\n\n

Its hit and miss when tit comes to buying lunch\/Most of the time I take my lunch in with the exception of 5 days where the company treated my co trainees and myself to a nice lunch in the west loop. I finally got to try the new sampling from Jimmy Johns. It was AMAZING but sloppy. They did not cut it in half as I requested nor did they provide napkins as request. <\/p>\n\n\n

I learned a hard lesson of where to never order from again and it was La Cocina 45 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60606 under the Brown Line Washington\/Wells station. Worst burrito I’ve ever had and at $14.9 should have been at least decent. It was not chorizo in the breakfast burrito\/ I threw most of it away. <\/p>\n\n\n

A few months ago I mentioned on here that I tracked down a friend Liz Ubell from college that I hadn’t heard from or seen since 1990. As a matter of fact, on one of my many road trips from Columbus OH to Pittsburgh PA, me, Big Mike (RIP) went to see “Total Recall” with her and he then BF Snake who you can hear about on this podcast. After “Total Recall” was the last time I had any contact with Liz. She was my only crush is college and nothing ever came of it. My fault mostly I assume,.<\/p>\n\n\n

Alex and Liz are both WPTS-FM alumni originally evolved from WPGH, an AM carrier current station that broadcast to the Pitt Student Union and dormitories. WPGH was started in the fall of 1957 by 12 students, including Adrian Cronauer, whose experiences in Vietnam were made famous by Robin Williams in the movie Good Morning, Vietnam. Since then, WPGH is now the call letters of the Fox TV station in Pittsburgh. The push to get an FM station began in the fall of 1977 when Pitt requested a space on the commercial FM broadcast band. Because the Federal Communications Commission was concerned that the move of WPTS to FM might set an unfavorable precedent for other non-commercial stations seeking to make a similar move, Pitt had to reassure the FCC that WPTS-FM was a unique case. As a result, WPTS-FM was granted a class D license with a radiating power of 10 Watts in the fall of 1984, the last 10-Watt station to be licensed by the FCC. The station was originally on 98.5 until 1994, when it moved to the current frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2015 WPTS was nominated as one of the five to ten finalists for the mtvU Woodie Award for best college radio station in the United States. WPTS was awarded the Woodie Award in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10\/15\/2025 New home away from home. On Tuesday I had a days long class on travel in Switzerland and the next day a test that took 7 hours to complete. My training class all of us failed the first try. We passed the second time and we awarded diplomas. It was tough. The day before we had product learning on travel to Scotland. <\/p>\n\n\n

Thursday after work hit hard. Obviously if you read this Diary of a Damned Man. Work was full of distractions via emails, texts and social media posts. 60 years old is no more obvious when nobody in your training class with the exception of my very very cool manager knows who KISS are and nobody could name a single KISS song. Earlier in the week I learned that none of them had ever seen a James Bond fil and they only knew of the Flintstones as a children’s vitamin. No joke, Its scary. No wonder things in the country are so sideways. Nobody knows any pop culture history at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m up having coffee on a rainy Sunday morning without Mark And Elizabeth (FOX32) the best morning news team of all not on the telly for weeks now. Getting ready for the big podcast.<\/p>\n\n\n

I finally watched The Substance and could NOT believe how fucking great and gory it is. So bloody at the end, As Jason Harmon said: “That movie is fucked up. The last half hour was some Troma \/ Dead Alive shit <\/em>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
