Black Cross Hotel, the Chicago-based industrial quintet featuring members of The Atlas Moth and Stabbing Westward, unleash \u201cEyes From Nowhere,\u201d the opening track from their forthcoming album, Songs for Switches<\/em> (Oct. 31, Someoddpilot Records. The dystopian anthem arrives with an accompanying lyric video<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2019Eyes From Nowhere\u2019 started with me channeling a raw, Jesus Lizard-type energy, then Marcus and Andrew pulled it in a completely unexpected direction \u2013 right into dark, punk-fueled Depeche Mode,\u201d explains Sanford Parker, bassist and producer of the new album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo me, this track screams \u201cRoboCop (1987),\u2019\u201d keyboardist Andrew Ragin adds. \u201cIt\u2019s a sophisticated blend of elements that explores identity, humanity, and the consequences of unchecked corporatism through the story of a murdered police officer transformed into a cyborg.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Cross Hotel celebrate Songs For Switches\u2019<\/em> upcoming release with two Chicago events: an intimate album listening party on Oct. 24 at Public Works, followed by their hometown record release show on Oct. 29 at Empty Bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Cross Hotel previously released the single \u201cThe House God Doesn\u2019t Visit<\/a>,\u201d with XS Rock <\/em>noting it\u2019s \u201cclassic industrial sound\u201d and Metal Nerd<\/em> saying it \u201crecalls Wax Trax-era industrial music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born as a horror-inspired industrial-metal side project from synth alchemist Ragin (The Atlas Moth) and guitarist Marcus Eliopulos (Stabbing Westward), Black Cross Hotel quickly grew into a full band with Mike Miczek (Earthburner, Broken Hope, The Atlas Moth) on drums, producer\/engineer Parker (Minsk, Corrections House) on bass, and DeEmme (Whipped) on vocals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Songs for Switches<\/em> was recorded at Electrical Audio studio and completed at Parker\u2019s own Hypercube studio, both in Chicago. The album arrives via Someoddpilot Records, an offshoot of the acclaimed Chicago branding studio responsible for creative campaigns and logos for Pitchfork<\/em>, Lollapalooza<\/em>, Empty Bottle<\/em>, and other cornerstones of the city\u2019s music culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
