The lyrics describe an effigy, a doll that the protagonist has created. This doll is the most precious thing in their world, as they love it with abandon, but it also becomes the target of their anger and rage and destructive behavior. As it often is in life, people hurt those whom they love the most, and it is no different in the relationship with the self.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The story also serves as a metaphor for the artistic process, as the journey of creation involves placing one\u2019s heart and soul into something, all of the love and positive emotions that one feels, as well as all of the suffering and pain . The sound palette used to create the song calls to mind a creepy yet melodic aesthetic reminiscent of horror film soundtracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"nv-iframe-embed\"><iframe title=\"S1R1N - Voodoo Doll (Official Music Video) | #darkwave #goth #industrial\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LShRrGhMJ1A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The music video for \u201cVoodoo Doll\u201d was very much inspired by the surreal yet gritty aesthetic of the music videos of the late 90\u2019s and early 00\u2019s. It was filmed in several abandoned buildings including a Victorian Insane Asylum and a Tuberculosis Sanatorium. The symbolism of these places, as well as the imagery of dolls and the bloody white clothes worn by Morgan in the video call to mind themes of lost innocence, and the corruption of the inner child. This is especially exemplified by the scenes in the video where dolls are destroyed. Both the song and video are intended as a cathartic experience for both the artist and audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is&nbsp;<strong>S1R1N<\/strong>? A possessed girl living in a haunted house on the edge of a nuclear Wasteland.-a place inhabited by creatures who have evolved to bend reality and manifest both nightmares and dreams. Much like the enchanted bird of folklore, Morgan&#8217;s voice has the power to drive those who stray into her realm into total ecstasy, or complete madness and despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>S1R1N<\/strong>&nbsp;(SEE-rin) is the genre-defying dark electronic project of Morgan Von Darque, an artist and DJ from Toronto, Canada. Morgan is previously known for her horror and fantasy-themed visual art, and for organizing local events such as Resurrection, a long-running Goth\/Industrial club night. A classically trained singer and pianist now working with electronic music production, Morgan uses a blend of classical composition techniques and modern songwriting to create a unique sound.
