Despite what her peculiar name suggests, COZIIE (pronounced cozy) encapsulates dark themes of unhinged rage and disturbing religious trauma with chillingly delicate vocals that unwind into unholy, demonic screams over hyperpop and trapmetal instrumentals; all often accompanied by nostalgic hymnal choirs inspired by her (now ex-) Mormon background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When elaborating on the process and production of the new single “POISE&SIN”, Coziie shares, “It was a pleasure and an honor to be able to share creative space with Kuzazuka and be a part of not only a fantastic project but his debut as an artist as well. He showed me a variety of beats he\u2019s made; his \u201cPoise&Sin\u201d demo spoke to me the most. I was really drawn to the haunting melody and eerie vibe that\u2019s also kind of enchanting. The clever name \u201cPoise&Sin,\u201d like \u2018poison,\u2019 made me think of lingering sickness – or even further – generational poison being a \u201c\u2026mold passed down like heirlooms\u2026\u201d”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elaborating further, Coziie adds, “I chose to write the lyrics as a metaphor for white privilege and how being white you\u2019re able to be IN the world without necessarily having to PARTICIPATE in the world – it\u2019s like medicine you take every day to numb yourself out to the sickness of the world. The privilege of the \u201cwhite pill\u201d is not having to face the same obstacles and injustices people of color have had to face such as racism, discrimination, cultural cleansing, systemic poverty and violence – and being able to ignore these things around you as well, and live as if they aren\u2019t happening at all.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
