SUN DONT SHINE continues their uncompromising march into the darker corners of hard rock with the release of \u201cWhat You Are.\u201d This fifth single, written by Kenny Hickey, Kirk Windstein, and Todd Strange, is doom-laced hard rock at its finest. Out now on all streaming platforms alongside a brand-new lyric video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From its first crushing riff to its final, lingering fade, \u201cWhat You Are\u201d captures the essence of SUN DONT SHINE \u2014 a sound that feels familiar yet utterly its own. Todd Strange\u2019s main riff was the seed that grew into one of the band\u2019s most complete and powerful tracks, setting a tone that\u2019s as suffocating as it is strangely alive. \u201cThis is our modern interpretation of the music we grew up on,\u201d Strange explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2018What You Are\u2019 hits with that classic weight \u2014 dark, slow, and unrelenting \u2014 but there\u2019s something fresh in the way it breathes. Todd brought in the main riff, and it set the tone for what became one of the band\u2019s most fully realized songs,\u201d explains Andrew Spaulding of Corpse Paint Records. \u201cThis one really captures the spirit of SUN DONT SHINE: familiar shadows, but a new kind of darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
