Canadian dark alternative rock heavyweights A Primitive Evolution<\/strong> have released a powerful video for \u2018Dead Skies\u2019, a song originally included on their \u2018Becoming\u2019 album issued by Metropolis Records in 2018 but a track that now feels chillingly prophetic. Directed by Owen Mackinder of The Birthday Massacre, the video blends visceral live performance footage captured by the band\u2019s longtime visual collaborator Jonathan Craig with haunting archival images of nuclear explosions. This fusion of raw energy and apocalyptic imagery reflects the song\u2019s themes of devastation, survival and the uneasy balance between destruction and hope.

\u2018Dead Skies\u2019 is a brooding, riff-heavy anthem that captures the band\u2019s signature blend of industrial textures, crushing guitars and raw, anthemic power. The decision to release the new video on August 6th – the 80th anniversary of the very first atomic bomb that devastated Hiroshima – underscores its message and urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wrote \u2018Dead Skies\u2019 seven years ago, but watching the world teeter under new threats and old fears, it felt like the right moment to revisit it,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0explains A Primitive Evolution frontman\u00a0Brett Carruthers, who has also been the bassist for labelmates The Birthday Massacre since 2019.\u00a0\u201cThe nuclear footage isn\u2019t just a look back. It\u2019s also a stark reminder of how close humanity still stands to the edge.\u201d

<\/em>A Primitive Evolution will be performing \u2018Dead Skies\u2019 in a live set at the TD Music Hall in their home city of Toronto on 16th August. The group are part of a four band bill at an eclectic showcase that promises to darken the city’s cheery\u00a0summer vibes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
