Buy it\u201d<br><\/em><\/strong>I DIE: YOU DIE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">US electronic musician and vocalist&nbsp;<strong>Mari Kattman<\/strong>&nbsp;has today (24th July) issued a video for \u2018Typical Girl\u2019, the opening song on her new album \u2018Year Of The Katt\u2019, released in late June by Metropolis Records. The clip was shot in downtown Providence (Rhode Island) by Mark Allison of @401FilmsPVD.<br><br><em>&nbsp;\u201cTypical girl. People say it constantly, so much so it feels almost criminal to be female by birth,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Kattman states when explaining the meaning of the song.<em>&nbsp;\u201cLike it\u2019s vulgar or something to carry characteristics that are even remotely female. That it makes you difficult, unlovable or crazy when it\u2019s not packaged up and tied with a pretty bow or something.&nbsp;There are so many misunderstandings about what it is to be a woman.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"nv-iframe-embed\"><iframe title=\"Mari Kattman   &quot;Typical Girl&quot;\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PcMgh1-g9wM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Establishing herself as a solo artist with the release of the albums \u2018Hover\u2019 (2016) and \u2018Stay Up\u2019 (2018), plus a number of singles and EPs, Kattman signed to Metropolis Records for the release of \u2018Year Of The Katt\u2019, which was preceded by the singles \u2018Anemia\u2019 and \u2018Sharp Shooter\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the album as a whole, she explains that&nbsp;<em>\u201cfinishing it was a truly herculean effort. It was an album completely recorded, composed and produced by myself, so there were a lot of learning curves and things I needed to sort out before I was truly happy with the end product. I feel relief and enormously proud that I got it done.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Kattman has recently announced a UK tour in October 2025 as the special guest of Assemblage 23, the electronic act founded in 1988 by Tom Shear, who is Kattman\u2019s collaborator in the electronic duo Helix and her husband.
