If you are like me and discovered KISS in 1976, then you probably have the “Spirit of ’76” poster permanently burnt into your brain. The poster made a lasting impression on me. My Uncle Pat bought this poster for me for Xmas 1976 in Barnesville OH<\/p>\n\n\n

Just my opinion, but I consider the Empire State Building\/NYC Skyline poster to be the mother of all KISS posters. It was my all time favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n

We left halfway through the performance having been in the sun with limited shade from 4 PM till the band kicked off at 8 PM. It was over 90 degrees and even though he had plenty of food and water and other assorted beverages it wasn’t worth it. I cannot do outdoor shows anymore if it’s over 85 degrees my body just can’t take it. I learned a lesson. I saw a lot of old friends and made a few new friends but it was hell. After Max helped me carry the cooler up my stairs he unpacked it and by the time he left 10 minutes later I was already out in my bed asleep. The heat continued all weekend and finally Monday it cooled down a little. Saturday I was dragging all day long. Sunday I spent another day indoors.<\/p>\n\n\n

Many years ago, this weekend was a lock for the most violent of the year. However, when the wheels came off in late May of 2020, it was relegated to just another lead-filled, mostly peaceful, often violent weekend of silly decisions with an extra day or two thrown in to pad the stats. Given the relative slowdown since February it\u2019s likely this weekend will once again become tops for the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 51 people were shot\u2014seven fatally\u2014over the Independence Day weekend, according to HeyJackass<\/a>, a site that independently tracks Chicago crime data. Two additional victims were killed by other means\u2014one was shot, the other beaten\u2014bringing the weekend\u2019s homicide total to nine.<\/p>\n\n\n

Monday I dragged a loaded suitcase and a huge duffel stuffed with laundry that included 3 long runner rugs from my hallway that Katrina was losing her bowels all over prior to her death. I got downstairs and my phone would not connect to Uber and it was too hot to walk as I was also too tired from the holiday weekend. I tried rebooting to no avail and finally walked to the corner and was able to hail a taxi. Then upon arrival my card would not work in the car so I had to go into the Food Stop store and use the bank machine. When I came out to pay a crazy black guy was screaming at my cabbie and me. He was in our faces calling us assholes and asking us to shoot him in the forehead. It was very scary and we both felt threatened and we were. It was one of those days I should not have left the house. When I got the laundry loaded into 2 oversize machines and my cell phone Citizen App lit up and police were attending to the crazy guy after a 911 call. Then one of the ashers stalled and when I thought they fixed it the door was leaking and soapy water was going all over the floor. WTF. Turned out that one of my Mexican placemats was stuck in the door. Just fucking lovely and them every dryer in the place was full. It was CRAZY and I was all about really wishing I had not left home. I got my phone to connect to the mobile network and 2 hours later was off to the Wilson CTA stop where a crazy black woman was screaming and cursing at people.
