Entitled simply “Phobia Effect Presents: Time Machines“, the reimagined album will be released via Rune Serpent Europa on 21 June 2025, with exclusive distribution via The Circle Music.

With an unwavering devotion to the legacy of Coil, Phobia Effect has revisited this album, enriching it with subtle new layers of sound, mixed and remixed with originality and profound care. This reinterpretation stays true to the conceptual core of the source material while offering a fresh and hauntingly familiar listening experience. The album unfolds as a mesmerising journey through apocalyptic yet meditative ambient soundscapes, rich in texture and nuance. At times hypnotic and intense, and at others strangely soothing, it evokes a sensation of transcending linear time, inviting listeners into forgotten dimensions and psychic territories.

“Phobia Effect Presents: Time Machines” features the original groundbreaking experimental music by Drew McDowall, John Balance and Peter Christopherson. Juda A’s approach captures the delicate balance between chaos and clarity that defined Coil’s work, where moments of raw energy are tempered by profound stillness, creating a unique and timeless audio atmosphere.

As John Balance once reflected, “Telepathine is one of the constituent compounds of Yage, the complex hallucinogenic Shamans drink that can be brewed in as many ways as there are Shamans. I think Telepathine was one of the first to be identified as being present in the brew and as one of Yage’s powers is to bestow telepathy on participants, that’s how it got its name.“

Phobia Effect channels this spirit of alchemical transformation, creating a sonic architecture where parallel dimensions converge. This is more than a remix; it’s an introspective and ritualistic journey for those willing to immerse themselves in its sonic depths.

“Phobia Effect Presents: Time Machines” will be available in the following numbered limited editions: 250 vinyl records in four different colours (Black, Red, White, and Transparent) and 500 CDs, each with a numbered sticker.

Phobia Effect’s debut album “Contemporary Human” will come later this year as a double CD. It will be a mix of European electronic and EBM, with different influences and powerful songs. A second album is also already in the works. Called “The Post Effect”, it has a completely different and opposite approach full of distortions, completely ambient, without vocals and very close to the rave scene. Phobia Effect’s Juda A is also involved in the projects Experimental Death Patient and Amphoterism (with Lisa Hammer).

A reverent reinterpretation of Coil’s 1998 ambient masterpiece Limited edition vinyl and CD available from 21 June – Pre-orders open now!
