Former\u00a0GUNS N’ ROSES<\/strong>\u00a0guitarist\u00a0Gilby Clarke<\/strong>\u00a0will join\u00a0Alice Cooper<\/strong>‘s band for shows January 31 through February 16, filling in for\u00a0Nita Strauss<\/strong>, who unfortunately has conflicting obligations of her own. Previously, guitarist\u00a0Orianthi<\/strong>\u00a0had been planning to fill in for\u00a0Strauss<\/strong>, but due to unforeseen circumstances,\u00a0Orianthi<\/strong>\u00a0is unable to do the tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alice<\/strong> will be announcing further 2025 tour dates, with Strauss<\/strong> back in the fold, including the already revealed shows on at the Sonic Temple<\/strong> festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 9, the Boardwalk Rock Festival<\/strong> in Ocean City, Maryland on May 18, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Lincoln Financial Field on August 15 with MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The now-62-year-old Clarke<\/strong> replaced Izzy Stradlin<\/strong> in the GUNS<\/strong> lineup in 1991, during the “Use Your Illusion”<\/strong> tour, and stayed with the band for three years. After exiting GUNS N’ ROSES<\/strong>, Clarke<\/strong> continued as a producer and solo artist, while also playing in SLASH’S SNAKEPIT<\/strong>, ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA<\/strong>, HEART<\/strong> and other acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clarke<\/strong>, along with fellow GUNS N’ ROSES<\/strong> members Slash<\/strong>, Duff McKagan<\/strong>, Steven Adler<\/strong> and Matt Sorum<\/strong>, played three “Appetite For Destruction”<\/strong> songs with Myles Kennedy<\/strong> at the band’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame<\/strong> induction ceremony in April 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio, although Gilby<\/strong> himself was not inducted as part of the group. Kennedy<\/strong>, who handles lead vocals in Slash<\/strong>‘s solo band and ALTER BRIDGE<\/strong>, sang “Mr. Brownstone”<\/strong>, “Sweet Child O’ Mine”<\/strong> and “Paradise City”<\/strong>, with “Use Your Illusion”<\/strong>-era member Sorum<\/strong> sitting behind the drum kit on “Brownstone”<\/strong> and the man he replaced in GN’R<\/strong>, Adler<\/strong>, pounding the skins for the other two songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, Clarke<\/strong> addressed his non-participation in GUNS N’ ROSES<\/strong>‘ reunion tour, which features three-fifths of the group’s classic lineup \u2014 singer Axl Rose<\/strong>, Slash<\/strong> and McKagan<\/strong> \u2014 during an interview with “The SDR Show”<\/strong>. He said: “They didn’t ask me to join the band; they asked me to come out and do [a guest appearance] with the band. And it just happened to be the day that I was in Chicago with my daughter. Her band was playing Lollapalooza<\/strong> [in July 2016]. And I’m actually her roadie. I don’t think anybody would know how to tune the guitar if I wasn’t there. Just kidding. But, yeah, it was just bad timing. I just said, ‘Look, I think it’s a great idea. I’m up for it. I just can’t do it today.’ And they literally asked me that day. And I never heard back from them after I said that.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gilby<\/strong> also confirmed that he only had a week to learn the entire GUNS<\/strong> catalog when he first joined the band three decades ago. “That’s true,” he said. “They told me on a Monday, that ‘You have the gig,’ and the next week we were flying to Boston for our first show. And I literally had a week. And remember, this is before YouTube<\/strong>. I was glued to their records with the headphones on, trying to learn the catalog. And the last song I learned was a song called ‘Estranged’<\/strong>, which was a really long ballad piece. And if you listen to it, it’s kind of one-dimensional guitar-wise \u2014 it really just features Slash<\/strong>. So I was listening to it, and I really couldn’t figure out what I should do in that song. So I went to Dizzy<\/strong> [Reed<\/strong>, GUNS<\/strong> keyboardist]. I go, ‘Hey, man, can you sit down with me, and let’s work on ‘Estranged’<\/strong>.’ I go, ‘I just wanna kind of figure it out.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, well, here’s the music book.’ And he handed me the music book. And I went, ‘There’s a music book? I just spent a week learning every note by ear when I could have just grabbed the freakin’ music book\u2026’ I mean, I read charts \u2014 it would have taken me an hour. I was a little pissed off that I didn’t ask. They could have offered it to me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clarke<\/strong>‘s latest solo album, “The Gospel Truth”<\/strong>, was released in April 2021 via Golden Robot Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gilby<\/strong> released his solo debut, “Pawnshop Guitars”<\/strong>, in 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
