January 22, 2025 \u2013 the Jesus Lizard kicks off the next round of their U.S. tour this May, with the seminal band visiting the West Coast on the latest leg of their Rack<\/em> tour. Ahead of the trek, the foursome has released a new standalone single, \u201cWestside\u201d (https:\/\/tjl.lnk.to\/westside<\/a>), their second post-Rack<\/em> track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2019Westside\u2019 goes along with the previous single, \u2018Cost of Living<\/a>,\u2019\u201d Duane Denison explains, \u201cwhich was subconsciously influenced by Leonard Bernstein\u2019s \u2018West Side Story\u2019 and hence the name. Really.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Yow adds: \u201cThere is a part in \u2018Westside\u2019 where the lyrics say, \u2018\u2026 give him back his arm.\u2019 That was inspired by David Lynch\u2019s \u2018Lost Highway,\u2019 when Robert Blake\u2019s character says, \u2018Give me back my phone.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band recently wrapped up sold-out tours across the Eastern U.S. and the U.K., earning rave reviews. The Guardian<\/em> called their performances a \u201cgrowling, spit-flecked fusion of pummeling songs and acerbic wit,\u201d while Mojo<\/em> described the band \u201cas titanium-tough and gimlet-sharp as ever.\u201d WXPN<\/em> simply summed it up as \u201cabsolutely feral.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
